One Woman’s Mission to Rethink Toothpaste
Hi, I’m Nicola the founder of Halo Toothpaste.
I’m a first-generation Vietnamese woman, born and raised in East London, UK. For most of my career, I worked in luxury retail management for some of the biggest names in the fashion industry. On the outside, it looked glamorous. But behind the scenes, it was long hours, demanding shifts, and a growing sense that something wasn’t sitting right with me.
Over time, I began a personal journey into mindfulness, minimalism, and conscious living. I was trying to find a sense of peace in a world that moves too fast. I started paying more attention to what I was putting in and on my body, reading the labels on everyday products and doing the research most of us are too busy to do.
Working in retail also opened my eyes to the sheer amount of waste created in our everyday routines. The excess packaging. The overproduction. The throwaway culture. It made me question: what am I contributing to and what can I change?
One thing that stood out was toothpaste.
I often wanted to brush my teeth during long shifts, but carrying around a messy tube wasn’t practical. And the more I learned about traditional toothpaste, the more disturbed I became.
Harsh chemicals. Fluoride concerns. Billions of plastic tubes ending up in landfill.
I couldn’t unsee it.
So I created a better option. Something clean, conscious, and convenient. A toothpaste that cared for both people and the planet.
That’s how Halo Toothpaste was born.
A small change with a big impact.
Because when you know better, you do better.
